Galrin’s Saga S00

I’ve been playing solo Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition intermittently for the past year or so. I’ve had variable degrees of success (fun) while regularly changing the tools used for GM emulation and generators. I also learned the 5e rule set during that time, more so from group play than solo. As I’ve stated elsewhere, if you don’t know the system for the game you want to solo, it’s best to start with a lighter rule set than 5e.

Galrin’s Saga is my current attempt at soloing 5e. I’ve been eyeing off several lighter systems such as Tiny Dungeon and Scarlet Heroes but decided to try this again.

The main characters will be Galrin and her twin brother Dorin. These are two half elf siblings who were raised in small town called Daggerford. This is not set in the Forgotten Realms I just lifted some of the settlement to make getting started quicker.

Galrin is a level 1 bard who has worked her whole life at the Lady Luck tavern in Daggerford. She is impulsive, cheerful and possibly a little naive for her 32 years of age.

Personality Traits
I always want to know how things work and what makes people tick. I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right.
Everyone should be free to pursue his or her own livelihood.
I don’t want to just sing the sagas. I want to be in them.
I’m never satisfied with what I’ve done — I always want to do more.

Dorin is a level 1 fighter who has worked as a bouncer at the Lady Luck Tavern since he was strong enough to throw a punch. His primary goal in life is to take care of his mother and sister.

Personality Traits
I face problems head-on. A simple, direct solution is the best path to success.
I fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Live and Let Live. Ideals aren’t worth killing over or going to war for.
Protecting my sister in her adventures is all I’m looking for in life.
I am easily risen to anger when people talk about me or my family.

Those are our two protagonists for Galrin’s Saga. Oracle and generator wise I’ll be regularly changing until I find my groove. I’ll try to make note when I do and what resources I’m using.

Lastly, I’m not a writer. Potentially I’ll come back and give my notes some narrative treatment at some time but for now, I will be just transferring my journal notes as written. That means seeing all the bits were I fell off on recording narrative and only noted the mechanics of events. Hopefully it’s still and interesting read.

OK see you in session 01 🙂
